'X' is for X-factor.

It's that certain something extra, that elevates the ordinary into extraordinary and our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) team is a prime example.

Formed in 2020, this specialist team was established to go above and beyond Red Rocket’s environmental and social governance obligations that arise during the life cycle of a project.

The ESG team is responsible for acquiring the necessary environmental and social permits, ensuring compliance, assessing risk and undertaking audits to manage or project risks. ESG also implements the Environmental Social Management System or ESMS that is compliant with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and the Equator Principles.

Meet Katleho Dingaan, Red Rocket’s Junior Solar

Meet Katleho Dingaan, Red Rocket’s Junior Solar Project Developer. Kat, as she is affectionately known is responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, and improving our renewable power plant portfolio. A multi-talented member of our team she completed her Honours in Economics in 2016.

Kat tackles every task with a ‘sunny disposition’, her talent shines through, we’d even go so far as to say she is a burst of sunshine… little wonder she is an anchor member of our solar development team. Beyond our office, Kat provides mentorship and assistance to students transitioning from high school to university, helping them to access essential resources.

At Red Rocket, our emphasis on #care for people drives much of what we do. It’s clear to us, that Kat lives by her favourite proverb ‘Charity begins at home’ by bringing positivity to every interaction at work and beyond.

Today, our thoughts are with the 250+ brave firefighters and other volunteers trying to extinguish the blaze engulfing Table Mountain and the University of Cape Town (UCT).

The fires continue to rage and we’re encouraging our community to support initiatives by Africa’s largest Disaster Response NGO, the Gift of the Givers.

@gift.of.the.givers has coordinated the rehousing and feeding of more than 3000 students in residence at UCT, is providing necessary hydration and nutrition to our firefighters and coordinating disaster relief alongside the City of Cape Town. @cityofct. Be a hero too and donate what you can.

Did you know that wind energy is the fastest growing renewable technology energy resource in the world? Wind Energy is so prolific that you can even spot them in the Game of Thrones drama series.

We love sharing our passion with you, here are some fascinating facts about wind energy :

- Wind power is not new.
- Windmills date back as far as back Ancient China in
2000 BC.
- Windmills are complex structures.
- A single wind turbine has around 8,000 different parts.
- Wind turbines are getting taller. A typical tower is
around 60 metres tall, add the enormous blades and
the turbine can stand 80 to 90 metres tall.
- Wind energy technology enthusiasts will soon be able to take a ride up a turbine. Plans have just been
unveiled by a Dutch company for the world’s first
sustainability theme park.
