In our continued efforts to add value to the communities where we operate through our projects, Roggeveld Wind Farm is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Internship Programme, aimed at empowering the youth in the communities of Laingsburg, Matjiesfontein, and Sutherland.
Due to the need for skills development and the employment opportunities in the areas, the programme is providing invaluable training and practical experience to three young unemployed females from communities surrounding Red Rockets’ Roggeveld Wind Farm. The current cohort will gain vital work experience for a period of 18 months.
The internship programme comprises interpersonal skills development and on-the-job exposure, and will see Beaujalais van Wyk (Sutherland) Kelly-Lee McKeet-Abrahams, (Matjiesfontein), and Romé Willemse (Laingsburg) tackle the skills gaps that they have identified.
The introduction of the internship programme in these areas is part of Roggeveld Wind Farm’s strategy to support the renewable energy sector’s goal of fostering and developing local expertise and skills, thereby energising the future of our communities. It aims to further improve the interns’ competencies in areas such as problem-solving and teamwork, along with boosting their soft skills such as adaptability, resilience, and decision-making.
The interns have expressed the importance of the programme in helping them on the way to realising their personal goals, from pursuing higher education in law and human resource management to exploring career paths in finance.
The three interns are the beginning of what the programme envisions to be a long and dedicated journey aimed at making a tangible difference, thereby playing a crucial role in empowering individuals and improving their employability.
