Brandvalley Wind Farm Successfully Completes Wind Turbine Installations

We are proud to announce the successful completion of the main turbine build installations at Brandvalley Wind Farm. This milestone establishes Brandvalley as the first Bid Window 5 project in the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) to achieve this feat since construction began in 2023.

The project, with a nameplate capacity of 144MV and located between Matjiesfontein and Sutherland, has drawn significant attention alongside its sibling project, Rietkloof Wind Farm (also with a nameplate capacity of 144MW) and Wolf Wind Farm in the Eastern Cape (85MW). The projects all reached financial close in February 2023 as part of a groundbreaking Round 5 of the REIPPPP for Red Rocket. Notably, the turbine installations were completed just 17 months after construction commenced.

Installing all 32 Vestas V150-4.5MW wind turbines represents a major step towards reaching the Commercial Operations Date (COD), expected to be quarter four, 2024.

The achievement is a testament to our standing as a true force of nature, showcasing the exceptional speed and sophistication of our team in approaching the construction phase. The completion marks a pivotal moment on our journey to reach commercial operations and ultimately add renewable energy to the grid. Once operational, the wind farm will meet the energy needs of up to 183,000 households annually, generating 590GWh and avoiding 620,000 tons of CO2 equivalent each year.
